Journal ClubOur most popular and successful outreach endeavor is our monthly educational offering for local area health professionals known as Lactation Journal Club. First established in 1987 with fewer than a dozen participants, Journal Club has grown to include approximately 65 key breastfeeding resource professionals from hospital and clinic sites throughout the region. Regular participants include physicians, maternity nurses, lactation consultants, nurse midwives, dietitians, WIC professional staff and educators, and La Leche League leaders. The group reviews new breastfeeding research, hears guest speakers, networks with colleagues, shares resources, and receives updates about breast pumps and other breastfeeding supplies. The Journal Club programming has been approved for Nursing CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and CERPs (Continuing Education Recognition Points awarded by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners). Local health professionals interested in being notified about upcoming meetings of Lactation Journal Club should call the Program at 303-377-3016. Meetings are held on the Rose Medical Center campus in Denver. |
