Breastpumps and Accessories

The Lactation Program is a Medela® rental and retail station serving the Denver Metro area. A breastpump often represents a significant investment, and you may not know exactly what kind of pump is right for you when you are new to breastfeeding. We can help you determine whether renting or purchasing is right for you, which type of pump will best suit your needs, and we can support you after the purchase of your pump.

We also carry other breastfeeding accessories, such as pumping bras, pump replacement parts, and specialty feeding devices. We are committed to helping you solve your breastfeeding problems and not just to selling you a product. There are many tools available to help you make the most of your breastfeeding relationship. The Lactation Program is available to guide you in the appropriate use of these tools.

Hospital-Grade Rental Pumps

These pumps are designed for multiple users, with each mother having her own kit – bottles, breastshields, and tubing. If you used a breaspump at the hospital after you delivered your baby, you may have received a kit that you can use with a rental pump. This is the best type of pump if you are trying to establish your milk supply or maintain your supply during an extended separation from your infant, such as if your infant is hospitalized or you return to work full-time. This is also a good option if you need to pump regularly for a short period of time, for example to help relieve engorgement, and switch to a pump designed for more occasional use later.

We have two types of rental pumps at The Lactation Program:

Medela® Symphony®

  • The Symphony(R) is a state-of-the art pump with a multi-phase pumping pattern that matches your baby's nursing rhythm more closely than any other breastpump.  This means you can pump more comfortably and achieve a faster milk flow.

Medela® Lactina Select®

  • This pump is one of the leading pumps used by hospitals. It offers adjustable vacuum and speed for effective pumping.

Personal-Use Electric Pumps

These pumps are available in a wide range of prices and functions. Because of the design of the motor of these pumps, they are intended for use by one mother only.

Daily-Use double pumps offer the efficiency of the rental pumps, with increased portability. We offer the Medela® Pump In Style® Advanced and Pump In Style® Original. Small electric and manual pumps are an option if you need to pump only occasionally after a missed feeding or a short separation from your baby. We offer Medela® Double Select™ and Single Deluxe electric pumps and the Harmony™ manual pump.
