Professional Seminars and Conferences

The Lactation Program offers one- to three-day breastfeeding training seminars tailored to the educational needs of your institution and staff. We bring our professional team to your facility for these training experiences and provide a course syllabus of resource materials.

The Lactation Program’s 3-day training has been conducted for WIC professional staff and educators in Colorado, Wyoming, and Oklahoma. Single day programs have been provided in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and New Mexico. Dr. Neifert has spoken on breastfeeding topics to health professionals over three decades in 46 states.

Topics for breastfeeding seminars include: advantages of breastfeeding to mother and baby; breastfeeding recommendations and current trends; prenatal preparation for breastfeeding; supportive hospital policies and routines; identification of at-risk mothers and infants; early follow-up of the breastfeeding dyad; and the management of maternal and infant breastfeeding problems. Major emphasis is placed on the recognition and intervention for breastfeeding risk factors in the pregnant woman, the lactating mother, and the breastfeeding infant. A one-half-day practicum provides hands-on experience with breast pumps, other breastfeeding equipment, and the infant test-weighing procedure.
